Posibilidad prizes storytelling. For eight years we've tried to convey some of the nerve and stamina in the stories that impoverished people have shared with us. We’ve tried to explore a particular time and place in depth and search for how the tension between despair and hope is worked out by those who live in dangerous times.

GLOBALIZATION and the UNDOCUMENTED came out of the risk-ridden world that migrants take for granted as they journey to al norte. In this presentation you’ll hear pungent narratives from impoverished Central Americans and Mexicans. We’ll investigate the structural economic reasons for their migration that point to dysfunctional “democracies.” As Jon Sobrino, a Salvadoran liberation theologian, has said "we’ve passed from a world of injustice, to a world of inhumanity."
GLOBALIZATION and the UNDOCUMENTED brings the voices of migrants into the current debate over how our nation will treat more than 13 million undocumented people. Furthermore, the presentation will:
• Present the issue of the undocumented embedded within a context of structures that pummel the poor.
• Give a brief historical perspective. Explain why Central Americans and Mexicans leave their families and risk their lives to come to the US to find work.
• Illustrate how the wealth of a few is predicated on the impoverishment of many.
• Show the faces of those on the journey. Let them speak for themselves in digital interviews Posibilidad had with them.
• Convene a conversation as to what we can do.
Please contact Posibilidad to discuss how your church or organization can host

Why the Poor of Latin America Risk their Lives on a Journey to the US to
Find Work
A four-minute presentation offered by Jim Harney at a hearing
called by constituents of Congressman James Sensenbrenner, a Republican from
Wisconsin in March 2005. The legislator proposed legislation that came down
hard on migrants. Five-hundred people attended from all around the country.
The Congressman never showed up to hear migrants testify as to the risk
involved in a journey to the north. SLIDESHOW
